As a Speech and Language Pathologist, I apply a holistic approach to find comfortable and effective therapeutic techniques for my clients. My enthusiasm translates to the strong connection I share with them. My goal is to enable every child to reach their full potential and support family as team members to facilitate learned skills into everyday life.
I am a licensed speech-language pathologist with over 17 years of experience in the field. I graduated from California State University--Fullerton with a Master's degree in Communication Disorders. In private practice, I gained extensive experience treating a variety of communicative disorders, including apraxia of speech, phonological processing disorders, receptive/expressive language impairment, fluency disorders (stuttering), and social pragmatic deficits. I have also worked with a multitude of disorders, including Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, Cru-Di-Chat syndrome, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, Fragile X syndrome, and Williams syndrome. My passion for Speech-Language Pathology began in 1999, after a childhood friend sustained a traumatic brain injury from a skiing accident. My friend was in a coma for 4 weeks before beginning the long, arduous journey towards recovery. I visited the hospital frequently, observing and supporting my friend during her rehabilitation process. This included speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. As my friend re-learned how to walk, how to talk, and how to complete everyday functions, I came to realize what an extraordinary gift rehabilitative services could be. From this experience, I developed a passion to positively impact the lives of others. As a mother of two special needs children I am passionate about collaborating with family members to ensure each child reaches their full potential. |
